Character: Simba
Series: The Lion King
Version: Mid-Lion King 1 (Pre return to the Pridelands)
Age: 4 or 5 years old (It's stated that he spends 2 years with Timon and Pumbaa, so I'm somewhat ballparking)
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual, as he has a mate later on in the movie.
Appearance: Simba looks like the typical adult lion, with tan fur shades and a dark red/crimson mane. He has yellow eyes with orange/red irises, which, most of the time, look kind. He's possibly the biggest of the lions in the Pridelands, and is has been stated that he is the strongest, being the king of the lions. Simba has fairly sharp teeth, although at this point in the movie, they didn't get much use. This is the same with his claws, very sharp, but very unused in his lifestyle of Hakuna Matata. (Although that changes when he returns home)
Personality: Simba is very kind, growing up with Timon and Pumbaa. He's very laid back, and probably wouldn't hurt another living creature at this point…unless it was a bug he was eating for lunch. He doesn't seem to have any cares in the world, being with his friends and having enough bugs to eat. But, under the surface, there is a bit of self loathing because he was led to believe that he killed his father, Mufasa. And, although he's outside of the Pridelands, it still haunts him at times. He's also very protective of his friends, especially Timon and Pumbaa.
Abilities/Weaponry: Simba's pretty strong (Showing this later in the movie by being able to fight and win against Scar), plus he has his teeth and claws, which could do significant damage. (…which isn't shown in the movie, it is Disney).
Weaknesses: He's a moral lion, so he could be killed kind of easily, mortal wounds, untreated minor wounds, etc. Plus, since he hasn't returned to the Pridelands in his timeline, Simba doesn't know that Scar killed his father, not him. This leaves him vulnerable to any mention of Mufasa, and with a guilt complex that he was the reason his father died, although he doesn't show this as much as he can.
History: Simba was born in the Pridelands, the son of King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi, making him the prince and heir of his father's kingdom. As he's growing up, he's somewhat rambunctious, and being young, he thinks that being king means that he will be able to do what he wants whenever he wants to, and that there aren't responsibilities to this title. Simba's uncle Scar takes advantage of this fact, and tells Simba about the elephant graveyard…he knows that even though he tells little Simba that he shouldn't go there, Simba will go anyway because of his curiosity. Simba does end up going, and he takes his friend Nala…along with a guardian of sorts, Zazu. The two cubs manage to leave Zazu behind (during the musical number "Can't wait to be king"), and head off to the elephant graveyard. They end up being chased by three hyenas (Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed) who work for Scar. Before anything happens, they are rescued by Mufasa, who had heard about their trouble from Zazu.
After this incident, Simba begins to realize that he has some big pawprints to fill when he becomes king of the Pridelands. Mufasa is angry at him because of the graveyard incident, but instead of scolding him, he tells him about the kings of the past who are in the stars. They watch over and help guide Simba, and while he's walking behind his father, he steps in one of Mufasa's pawprints, and the message is quite clear.
Later, Scar once again tricks Simba, this time with disastrous results. He tells Simba that Mufasa has a surprise for him in a gorge. When Simba goes there, Scar sends his hyena minions to start a stampede of wildebeest towards where Simba is waiting. Mufasa is there and saves Simba from the stampede. But, Mufasa is killed when Scar pushes him back into the gorge after saving Simba.
Scar tricks Simba into thinking that he was the cause of this father's death, and that he needs to run away from the Pridelands. Simba believes this, and leaves, his emotions shattered and feeling guilty. Scar once again sends his hyenas into action, sending them to kill Simba. But, Simba manages to escape by running through thorns where the hyenas won't follow him and ends up going into the desert. The hyenas don't follow him, believing that Simba will die in the desert. But, before he gets out of earshot, the hyenas give him a warning: Return to the Pridelands and they will kill him.
Almost as if the hyenas were right, Simba collapses from heat exhaustion in the desert. Vultures begin to gather around him, but the flock is scared off by Timon and Pumbaa, who save Simba and take him to the jungle where they live. The duo likes the idea of having a lion (top of the food chain) protecting them from danger, so they teach Simba about eating insects, which Simba likes, and starts eating.
Two years pass, and Simba's grown into an adult lion under the care of Timon and Pumbaa. He's lived with them and with the idea of "Hakuna Matata" (No worries, no cares/problems), but his slight depression over his father's death (which he still believes is his fault) is never far away from his mind. All of a sudden, his childhood friend, Nala, appears, and she's now grown to be a lioness. The two connect, and end up falling in love. Nala tells Simba about what Scar has done as tyrant of the Pridelands, and that Simba is the rightful king. She attempts to convince him to return home, but he refuses because he still feels guilty about his father, but he won't explain to his friend. Simba runs off, leaving Nala behind, frustrated and angry with him.
He falls asleep later, and soon wakes up…but not in the jungle where he lives, but outside a strange looking dome…
